Side hustle: the art of presence

Side Hustle Gallery in Los Angeles is not a traditional gallery.

It’s a private, curated space created by Kelly Wearstler — somewhere between a home, an exhibition, and a living concept of design.

You don’t just walk through it. You experience it. I walked in and for a moment… I just stood still.

Not because it was loud or overwhelming. But because it was the opposite.

Calm. Confident. Almost intimate.

I always say — I don’t just look at interiors. I feel them. And here, I felt everything.

A wooden chair that looks like it’s melting, like fabric frozen in time. A light that feels alive — not designed, but discovered. Objects that don’t try to impress you… but somehow stay in your mind.

As an interior decorator, I notice details. But as a woman, I notice energy. And this space has a very specific energy — soft, stylish, grounded… effortlessly confident.

Not perfect. Not polished. Real.

Beautiful interiors are everywhere. But I’m drawn to spaces that feel like a person. Not just a single interior — but a whole world. With character. With mood. With presence. The kind that stays with you.

Because a chair is never just a chair. It’s a decision. It’s a mood. It’s a reflection of taste. And taste… is everything.

There is something very California about this place. That quiet confidence. That freedom to mix art, design, and life without rules. And maybe that’s why it resonated with me so deeply. Because this is exactly how I want to create spaces — not perfect, not predictable… but alive, sensual, intentiona.

I didn’t leave thinking “I want this object.” I left thinking “I want to create this feeling.” And if I’m honest — this is the kind of space I want to create for others.

Not just something to look at. But something to step into. To feel. To remember.
